So farytales does come true, or..?

Hah! Just found this one on a friends Facebook. Must say that the resemblance is striking. The only part that doesnt match the farytale too good is unfortunately prince charmings hair.

I think I know what I want my wedding bouquet to look like..

Made of Swedish wildflowers and as beautiful as can be!
Other than bouquet-making I have just been working and working. Am getting quite worried about work by the way, today was the last day in one division, which I will go back to and manage on my own in four weeks time. More than a little nervous I must say… Oh well what to do. Exept be even more creative on my spare time to manage the tension :p

Yesterday

The day started down by the lake where we dressed the pole.

Must say that its hard to find a better setting

The men compleated thier task of putting the pole where it should be beautifully.

By the time for coffe and snaps it got windy and we took shelter in the 60+ year old locker rooms :)

My seven flowers. Unfortunately it didnt work this time, I still dont know who ill marrie...

The evening turned out to be more quiet than expected, some wine, a good dinner and movies with the neighbors. It will end harder tonight Im afraid, in half an hour we go again :) You can never celebrate midsummer too much!

fredag 24 juni 2011

Tonight I’ll walk home in complete silence. I’ll pick seven different flowers, from seven different fields; I’ll put them under my pillow and Ill dream of my husband to be.  That’s the magic of midsummer night, the peacefulness and love.

Its all about the hair!

No crown thins year, but the wild flowers are there and we are ready to go :)

daisies and cornflowers does the trick!

Midsummer!

Midsummer, my personal favorite, maybe after Christmas. Originally it was a pagan celebration that Christianity didn’t manage to get rid of when it came along, so instead of prohibit it was said to be the birthday of john the Baptist. Well, not so much in reality. We really celebrate the sun and fertility. We dance traditional dances round the midsummer pole and listen to classic Swedish summer songs. We make crowns of wild flowers and eat fresh potatoes, herring and strawberries for dessert. And to go with it all of course some Swedish snaps!

Ill start my celebrations down by the lake, dancing and singing with flowers in my hair together with family and locals from the village. Then I’ll go eat dinner and celebrate and dance some more with friends in the evening. It will be a good good day.

Last year it looked something like this..

In the middle of a dance with sweetest Isabelle

Last year Linda hosted the celebrations!

The must-have strawberry cake!
Happy midsummer!

summer Solstice

In the middle of June, when the sun sets the latest and rises the earliest, when the days are long and the nights barely there, strawberries and rhubarbs tastes better than ever before.
And so I spent some time taking care of what the sun and garden gave to us, cus no jam is as tasty as the home-made strawberry and rhubarb jam!

Grandmothers’ strawberries and our rhubarbs chopped in various sizes to make the best mix.

Add sugar, pectin and citric acid. In Sweden we cheat a bit, we have jam sugar, already mixed and ready to go :)

Best enjoyed warm with vanilla ice cream or on pancakes!

Visa vid vindens ängar

Ok so when Alexande Ryback won Eurovision Song Contest I LOVED him! Then I meet my lovely Norwegian friends and learned more about him. Oh the disappointment.  And for the last year I have been less than a fan of his. Even been on the very anti Ryback team.
But, there is nothing as too late for change and when I was introduced to the collaboration between Rybak and Swedish musician Mats Paulson my attitude towards him changed again. A lot! I do think you might have to be Swedish to see the beauty of it, or Scandinavian at least cus the type of music is really traditional and culturally connected to Sweden. Mats Paulson have huge numbers of classic Swedish songs on his CV and when he teams up with young Ryback in my favorite Swedish song I can’t help but starting to like him again.
It is the kind of song I would listen to on Midsummer Eve or on the bridge in the lake relaxing alone or eating crayfish and drinking nubbe with dear friends.  The song IS Swedish summer.

I did try to find a better clip, but this will have to do I’m afraid…
Oh and for those of you who can’t tell the difference, He is a Norwegian but here sings in Swedish while keeping his accent, which is really nice.

quirky makes pleasant

Some have dogs guarding their houses; we have a gnome taking care of ours. Not a big surprise though since there are approximately 500 Santa’s and gnomes in various sizes and poses (fishing, napping etc..) within these walls.

I love this little man, he is one of those things that makes a home, bit worn out, quirky and so charming on the moss on the stone wall. And the best part is that gnomes are used as protection from evil sorcery and misfortune. So I feel completely safe without any dog at all.

Yes! :)

However, friends of mine whom actually like Harry Potter are few, so will someone please come see it with me? Pretty pretty please!

VMAIK-Högaborg

The team I have cheered for ever since I started walking has had a rough spring season, but today when myself and Malin for the first time this year decided to show up for a game it was time for something big, 6-1. Beautiful! My Saturday evening couldn’t have started any better :)

A good night in town

So yesterday it was time to catch up with the girls. And it was lovely. We went to steakhouse and we ate, ate and drank a bit of wine, Emla, Linda, Jennie and I.  Then we tried to go to Banken, but the guards wouldn’t let us :/ So we went to bishops arms to have a beer instead and I must say that was probably a good decision!

Started of with Hot Spanish prawns.

Then had some Ribs, potatoes, greens and BBQ, Tsatsiki and Béarnaise souse for main course. Such a food heaven, the only downside was that it was impossible to fit any dessert into the tummy after :/

This is how happy food makes us all!

I’m so impressed by how quickly blogger uploads photos, wow!
Just wanted to show you  this amazing picture that was just uploaded on facebook. It’s from Ollie and Russels wedding (which by the way was totally amazing!) and clearly shows how much more I love cuddling kids than they love cuddling me. Poor little Ethan... ;)

We are the future

I know most of you are probably not very interested in PR, however I still want to share this brilliant you-tube clip with you to describe the kind of future I’m facing, enjoy:

Challenging to say the least!

Toudeloo!

Hey! Hope no one minds me changing over to English, I fell for the group pressure I guess. So I changed blog address, mainly because the other one just looked so dull!
For a start, living in London is a lie for now as I just got back to Sweden from the best city in the world. However, that is just for a short period of time, in August/ September I’ll be on my way back to the city of great architecture, music, nightlife, shopping, parks and of course my lovely melting pot of friends!
I want to try and summarize this year abroad a bit. For those of you who don’t know me I moved to London in August to study marketing communications and Public Relations. I was only meant to stay for a year, definitely not any longer than that! But, I ended up being completely swept away by the amazing city and the people within it.
I haven’t lived in the most attractive parts of London; I rented a room in a flat in Islington. The area was a bit worn down and shabby when I got there, but it is improving! And I have shops, cafes, Uni, Emirates stadium (cool huh?) and of course pubs just around the corner. But the no 1 reason to why I like the area as much as I do is three girls, Kate the Welsh whom I share flat with, and of course Ida and Cora who share a flat just 2 min walk away from my place.
I do love what I study, Public Relations is totally my thing. But what really made me choose to stay was the people I met, and I assure you they have taught me at least as much as the Uni has.
I love all my friends, Swedes as well as non-Swedes, but never before have I had friends from all over the place! A bunch of Scandinavian people (yeah we kind of gang up together as a union if we are up against any other nationality), British, French, American, German, Spanish and on and on.
Ok, so more about England will appear in August I suppose when I move back. Until then I will try to make the most of blogging about my ordinary everyday working life ;)
